Tour of 5910 Grove Avenue

  • 5910 Grove Avenue Richmond, VA, 23226 United States (map)

The striking two-story single-family residence and artist's studio at 5910 Grove Avenue were designed by Josh McCullar Architects, and its landscaped site was planned by Anna Boeschenstein at Grounded. The traditional gable-roofed massing of the house allows it to blend into the neighborhood. Views from within this light-filled house enhance the sense of being part of an established community, while the sloping backyard with its grove of ginkgo trees and beds of indigenous plants creates a world apart. The house has three bedrooms and four and a half baths. The large open kitchen is planted in the heart of the house.

The tour will allow visitors to experience the telescoping sequence of public-to-private spaces from the stone forecourt, to the entry loggia, the gallery, kitchen, sitting room, rear porch, and garden, which is the artist's studio's setting.

As part of the tour attendees will hear remarks from the architect Josh McCullar, landscape architect Anna Boeschenstein, and builder Eric Olsten.

Parking will be available on street and at nearby St. Stephen's Church.
